The Best Nutritional Value Calculator Resources
Once you have learned about the healthy eating pyramid and how to read a nutrition label, you will want to start looking at nutritional values of all of the foods you are eating and using a nutritional value calculator. For certain foods, you may have trouble finding the nutritional information you are looking for. I have listed some of the best nutritional value calculator resources that I have found below that should help you find out the nutrition facts for most of foods you're currently eating.
The good news is there are different tactics that you can use to find out this information. When eating out at restaurants, many places now have nutrition information available at the restaurant or on their Web site...all you have to do is ask. But some restaurants don't release this information (sometimes for good reason...check out this report from Men's Health about the 20 Worst Foods in America).
Many foods in the grocery store (i.e., fresh produce) also do not have nutritional labels on them. Many times, a Google search will help you find what you're looking for (i.e., "nutritional information for Chili's chicken sandwich).
There are some great resources on the web if youre having trouble finding the nutritional information about certain types of foods. These are a handful of nutritional value calculators that I have personally used:
The Daily Plate (this is my personal favorite!) Calories Count Nutrition Data eLook Nutrition USDA National Nutrient Database
