Vegetarian diets can range from completing restricting any animal products (vegan) to eating some animal products, such as eggs and dairy (ovo-lacto vegetarianism). According to the Mayo Clinic, research shows that adults and children who adopt a vegetarian diet are less likely to be obese than non-vegetarians. Vegetarian recipes typically include less saturated fat and more fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains. Most of us don't eat the recommended 5-9 servings of vegetables each day.
