Even more startling was the fact that nearly all the participants in the study had regained the weight back. According to Dr. Frank M. Sacks, professor of cardiovascular disease prevention at the Harvard School of Public Health and lead author of the study, "On average, no one diet is better than another for weight loss."

People lose large amounts of water weight initially (not fat!) on low carb diets because of the diuretic effect, and this makes them think low carb diets are more effective, when this is not the case!
