Coldstone Creamery is known for their creative and tasty ice cream and desserts. Unfortunately, they’re also known for high calorie dishes loaded with saturated fat and sugar. I found this gem on their website:
“Despite the general perception that ice cream isn’t as good for you as it tastes, at Cold Stone, we’re all about making people happy – for the long haul! – which requires a balanced and sensible approach to eating fun treats like ice cream. We therefore obsess, far more than most companies, about the nutritional aspects of our products as much as we do their taste.”
Let’s just say I was a bit skeptical when reviewing Coldstone’s menu after reading this. Surprisingly enough, they do have a handful of healthier dessert options. But choose wisely and don’t stray too far from the menu options below, because you can get into serious trouble with the majority of their traditional dessert choices.
Case in point: check out the nutrition facts for the “Gotta Have It” sized Oreo Creme ice cream: 1060 calories, 74 grams of fat (35 g saturated and 1.5 g trans) and 97 grams of sugar. That is absolutely horrendous. You’re talking over a day’s worth of saturated fat and three days’ worth of sugar in a single dessert. And that’s without any toppings!
How about a refreshing sorbet, which is considered fairly healthy by most people? The nutrition facts for the Gotta Have It sized Countrytime Pink Lemonade Sorbet: 570 calories and 142 grams of sugar!
But that’s nothing compared to the milkshakes at Coldstone. The worst offender is the Gotta Have It sized PB&C Milkshake. It weighs in at 1750 calories, 118 grams of fat (64 g saturated, 2 g trans), 700 mg of sodium, and a diet-busting 140 grams of sugar. You definitely don’t gotta have that … or else you’re also gonna have a spare tire around your waist.
Looks like Coldstone doesn’t “obsess over the nutrition aspects” as much as they claim they do.
But anyways, there are a handful of items that get my stamp of approval. Here are nutrition facts for menu options that get my stamp of approval.

The Bottom Line: All in all, Coldstone Creamery is like any other dessert restaurant, where the majority of their menu items are fat- and sugar-filled catastrophes. It can literally take hours upon hours of intense exercise to burn off most of the desserts on Coldstone’s menu. There are a small handful of sensible choices but stray too far from these and you can get yourself into a world of trouble.
